The Story

Introducing the "Center Table Library", an homage to the artistic genius of Thomas Chippendale, as part of The Met x Eichholtz collection.

Crafted from sleek black veneer, this table exudes timeless elegance. Inspired by an unpublished design from Chippendale's 'Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Director,' this piece embodies the spirit of classic design. Elevate your space with a touch of history and sophistication with this exquisite table.

The Center Table Library takes its design cues from the tables in the Thomas J. Watson Library, The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s research library. The library holds a collection of more than a million volumes, extensive digital collections, and online resources, making it one of the most comprehensive art libraries in the world. The library, along with an original drawing of a library table (ca. 1753–62) by the famed furniture maker Thomas Chippendale (British, 1718–1779), have influenced the design of the Center Table Library, which has been beautifully crafted in black veneer.
